This post is probably going to be very LDS centered.
A Parable is:
What describes the future growth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?
The mustard seed grew and became a tree for which all could benefit.
Why does the church send out so many missionaries?
We want all who can be to be ready for when the Lord collects his people unto Him. We want to add to the numbers of people that become the good fish, west, and seeds.
How do you explain the remarkable growth of the Church, considering that it is fairly new compared to most world religions and started small in the American Frontier?
We have truths that are hard to dispute. The pioneers sacrificed a lot for us to have a solid foundation for which to build the church. When a thing is good it bears fruit and grows.
Why are some members of the Church willing to sacrifice so much worldly wealth and recognition in order to maintain membership in the Church?
They understand that it is in the Gospel that one finds true happiness. Wealth and recognition will not bear as much happiness as does following the principals of Christ.
Why do some Church members decide to leave the Church?
They become choked by the world and all it's distractions. The door creeps open. Little things creep into our lives that trick us into thinking they will make us happy. And maybe it does relieve some pain for a time but it always adds to it. Another reason people might leave the Church is due to the lack of fellowship skills in the wards and stakes. I know I've had a hard time in certain wards. An old lady would give me a look and say she's hadn't seen me in a while but she doesn't say it in a friendly way. As one that at the time was suffering from depression. People aren't always mindful of what others might be going through so they are not
Considering the parables concerning the pearl of great price, what sacrifices would you be willing to give up for the pearl of great price? What sacrifices have you or those you know already made for the gospel?
I have already given up some things. Coffee, dating and marrying decent non-members, addiction, my time, my energy, my heart, and my life. I believe to truly gain the pearl one must be willing to search for it daily. We cannot live our day-to-day lives without prayer, and scripture study and expect the pearl to fall into our laps. It has to be bought with the things we are willing to give for it. And we must give enough or the seller won't sell. Some people very close to me have decided to give up their addictions, which are very hard to beat, for the gospel and the all the blessings that come with it.
What does the net represent of the parable of the net cast into the sea? What does it mean to be gathered into the net? What does it represent putting the good into the vessels and casting the bad away?
The angels that will gather the people together in the last day. We will be pulled together and then sorted. Good people put into the vessels and bad people cast away. What constitutes good and bad people will be solely up to God.
