The Beatitudes

Definition for blessed or blessedness:
Blessedness is defined as being higher than happiness.
‘Happiness comes from without and is dependent on circumstances; blessedness is an inward fountain of joy in the soul itself, which no outward circumstances can seriously affect.’ (Dummelow’s Commentary)

In this post I will be going over three of the "Beatitudes" that in the past of can in the future insure my happiness. I will describe how and why.

Past
1. Blessed are the Merciful. When we forgive it lifts a burden off our shoulders.
For me to take upon the Yoke of Christ because his yoke is to forgive and love. It is so joyous to forgive. In order to truly forgive someone you must let go of the past and not bring it up to sting or offend in the future. This is a difficult thing to do. For me in my life it has changed everything about my day to day happiness.

Present
2. Blessed are they who Hunger and Thirst after Righteousness.
I cannon even describe the amount of joy I have after studying my scriptures. After doing my religion homework. I am on cloud nine. The fire in my soul burns and its hard to stop. I always want more. I love asking questions and finding the answers. I have no doubt that when we truly hunger for the Word of God and desire to implement it into our lives we can have SO much joy.

Future
3. Blessed are the Poor in Spirit.
For some reason feeling grateful for everything the Lord has given me puts joy in my heart. First comes the belief that God gave me everything that I have. Cloths, jobs, financial aide for school, acceptance to school, my wonderful daughter and husband, my pets, and the list goes on. I know that if I (we) hold onto the belief that someone loves us enough to give us all that we have we can have joy. It can create happiness inside our bodies that will never die.
