The Savior Taught the Apostles about Leadership

John 13:1–17; "if I wash thee not, thous hast no part with me. . .The servant is not greater than his Lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. . .If ye do these things, happy are ye it ye do them."

Side note: I realized while talking to William that Christ wants us to serve and love one another because him doing the ultimate service has SO much joy from it! He wants us to be able to feel that happiness, that pure joy  too! Awesome huh!

Luke 22:24–30; "he that is chief, as he he doth serve. . . whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? . . . I am among you as he that serveth."

Mark 10:43–45. "whosoever shall be great among you shall be your minister. . .chiefest, shall be servant of all . . ."

These verses show that leaders are not to see themselves as better than anyone else let alone the people that they serve. We truly are all equal in our own rights as humans, as children of God. We are to treat each other as such. Service brings so much joy, it would be an honor to have a position to be able to serve lots of people at once.

The World, apart from all those who believe and act on these words, do not know of feel the joy of service like they should. They puff themselves up for power, gain, and selfishness. The worldly leaders have no love or care for the people they preside over. They use them for their own greed for power and wealth. It is a sad shame. Can you imagine how much true happiness they could have if they just changed their mind set? They are trying to fill gaps that are never ending because they are not filling them with the right stuff. Sad.

Write a paragraph or two about a time when one of your Church leaders or someone in the scriptures served and led in the way Jesus Christ taught.

I have had the opportunity to have a wonderful bishop recently. He has changed my life, and my families life. His position in the Church is thus that he controls the ward budget. He decided to help our family with money to get the much needed counseling for my life, and marriage. He could have not listened for as long as he did, he could have been unrighteous, and selfish. But he wasn't. He saw his position as a way to serve and love his ward. Meetings with bishops normally are only supposed to be a half hour at most but he let me talk to him until I was ready to walk back into the real world. I am, and will be forever grateful for his kindness and pure love. May God bless him everyday!

Thats what a true leader is. Someone who changes the lives of the people they are in charge  of for the forever better.
